Types and performance evaluation of color pastes commonly used in coatings

Color paste is a semi-finished product made of pigments or pigments and fillers dispersed in the paint. Oil-based color paste with pure oil as adhesive. It is called resin color paste with resin paint as adhesive. Since there are many types of paints, there are also many types of colorants.
Iron oxide pigment paste: excellent light resistance, weather resistance, chemical resistance, and low price. It is widely used in latex paint. Commonly used colors are PY42 (HB-630) iron yellow, iron red, iron brown, iron black and other colors.
Bismuth vanadate pigment paste: PY184 (HB-538) bright lemon yellow, high saturation, excellent light resistance, weather resistance, high temperature resistance and lead-free. But the alkali resistance is slightly poor. Can be used in lighter colored latex paints.
Phthalocyanine blue: Phthalocyanine pigment paste, with strong tinting strength, excellent light resistance, excellent weather resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and relatively cheap price. Phthalocyanine blue paste includes red phase PB15 (HB-381R) and green phase PB15:4 (HB-382), etc. Phthalocyanine green paste PG7 (HB-420) has better color retention than phthalocyanine blue. They can all be used in lighter colored latex paints.
Phthalocyanine green: PG7 (HB-420) has 14-16 more chlorine atoms in the molecule than phthalocyanine blue, so its light resistance and heat resistance are better than phthalocyanine blue.
Red pigment paste: Commonly used high-performance red pigment pastes include diketopyrrolopyrrole HB-768 (PR254), quinacridone HB-713 (PR122), HB-716 (PV19), etc. Strong tinting strength, bright color, high saturation, hue from red to blue red. Excellent light, weather and chemical resistance, making it useful in lighter colored latex paints.
Yellow pigment paste: tetrachloroisoindolinone HB-539 (PY110) in yellow paste is medium yellow, benzimidazolone HB-537 (PY154) is bright yellow, and has the best light fastness and weather resistance among all yellow organic pigments. One of the good varieties. Has very good light fastness. Especially HB-539, with the increase of dilution ratio, the color retention is improved, and the color is more vivid. HB-539 (PY110) medium yellow can be used in lighter color latex paint, but it is more expensive.
